10 Tips to Look Smart at all Times
Everyone likes to look smart, whether it is for a job interview, or to create a first impression on the person you are crushing on. Keeping aside first impressions, people in general also want to look smart because that makes it easier for them to get noticed in the crowd. Nobody likes to be just another face in the crowd; everybody likes to stand out. Here are some tips to look smart all the time:
1. Get that hair settled
One of the first things that affect a person’s overall physical appearance is one’s hair. Unsettled, unmanaged hair falling on face can make a person look really untidy. To look neat, smart and sharp, it’s important to have well-groomed, well-combed hair.
2. Polish those shoes
Your entire outfit could be smart and charming, but one speck of dirt on your shoes can kill the whole magic in one instance. Make sure your shoes are clean and shining all the time. This is especially important if you are going for a job interview.
3. Learn some trivia
To be able to start off a nice, healthy conversation with someone, and to create a good first impression at the same time, you should be aware of some trivia that enlightens people and makes you come across as a smart person. It will make them feel that you are interested in knowledge of all kinds, and will make you seem like a well-read person.
4. Drop the accent!
If you thought that imitating a foreign accent could make you stand out in a crowd, that idea is surely passe! Please drop the accent, and talk in your original style and voice. Impress people with who you are, and not with some fake identity of yours. Accents will only make you look like a ‘wannna-be.’
5. Carry something to read all the time
The best way that other people will feel tempted to start a conversation with you, is when you have something to read in your hand, which catches their attention. It could be a newspaper, so that they’ll start a conversation about current news and asking you about your opinion. Or it could be a book that you’re holding, which the other person has read, and he/she might want to talk to you about it. In the process of carrying something good, you will also end up reading it in your free time, which obviously adds to your knowledge and smartness anyway.
