5 Steps to a Better Body Image
We can be happy with any body type or be comfortable with our weight as along as we have a better body image. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and fi you believe in this, you first need to start with yourself, believe that you have a great body. The truth about our bodies is that they are pretty in their own way and as long as your weight does not give you any health issues you should be perfectly happy with the way your body looks. Easy to have positive thoughts, but it is difficult to actually believe in them with the steady onslaught of commercials and other media images that sets the norms for the perfect body. Here are some tips to overcome the negative thoughts about your body.
1. Listen to yourself
Before you listen to other people talking about your body, you need to listen to your own self and look at what you are telling your body. Are you judging yourself and moving around based on your body size? Are your decisions and social life affected by your body? Are you unkind to your own body? If so, you need to start telling yourself that it doesn’t matter.
2. Start looking at yourself without bias
It is very difficult to do when you are just beginning, but you need to look at tour body and not judge. Try looking at it in an objective manner and do not be too critical. If you don’t love your body, no one else will and even if they do, you can never be convinced that their admiration is honest. When you are non-judgmental about your own body, you will start appreciating others too.
3. Try writing or coming up with a custom made positive quote for yourself
Every morning make it a point to come up with something positive you can tell yourself. Instead of looking for positive quotes elsewhere, you can come up with your own quotes that reflect how you feel and how you want to feel. Write it down in a place where you can see it many times throughout the day. Even if it sounds silly, you will start believing in it after a while.
