In today’s competitive workplace, clearing a job interview is not an ordinary feat. Many factors contribute towards creating a favorable impression on the interview panel, but a well-dressed man scores immediate points as compared to someone who is untidily dressed. For any job interview, your clothes should portray your keenness to get the post. Here are a list of points for you to keep in mind.

1. Clothes should not be too loud or gaudy

Well pressed trousers in grey, blue, black or brown should be teamed with matching shirts in pinstripes and pastel shades. Wearing a light blue striped shirt with dark grey or black trousers, or a beige colored shirt teamed with dark brown or black trousers, or even a navy blue shirt and tan colored trousers make up smart and elegant ensembles. These colors are best suited towards creating a favorable first impression.

2. Footwear should be formal

Sandals, slippers and sport shoes should be avoided. When the whole look is being planned to be formal, shoes should also match. Hence, leather shoes in black or brown should be worn, again according to the color of your pants. Care should also be taken to see that the shoes are well polished. The socks should match with the color of the trousers or be in a neutral color like beige. White socks and white trousers seem to carefree and should be avoided.

3. Keep overall smartness in mind

A tie and a well-fitting suit or blazer, which goes well with your shirt and pants, add towards creating a formal and presentable look. Care should be taken that the colors of your various ensembles should not clash. Wearing a black blazer and black pants, or a grey blazer with blue or black pants, and a tan colored suit with chocolate brown pants and a cream or white shirt gives a smart look. Ties can be in coordinated or contrasting shades. If the overall look is very sober, then a slightly brighter colored tie looks very trendy. Do not stuff paper or keys, etc. into your coat or trouser pockets to avoid any unsightly bulges. Make sure your coat pockets do not sag, since that looks very unkempt.
