4. Hobbiton
Hobbiton, the most famous fictional land ever assumed its real-life form complete with real vegetable patches and natural green grass. The place was created a year before production and sheep were reared here to regulate the length of the grass.

5. It was a long hair day
The cast included several hundreds of soldiers and the works. Wig makers had a gala time since large amounts of hair were imported to New Zealand to make befitting wigs. The quantum was so high that many women in Russia began cutting their hair to sell them to the filmmakers.

6. Mind boggling numbers
Statistics of all resources including human beings used in the film are astounding. An incredible 48,000 items were used for the shoot that included 6 bigatures, 10,000 facial prosthetics, one thousand suits of armor, the five principal hobbits were made 1,800 hobbit feet since they could be worn only once and over 2,000 weapons. Even breakfast couldn’t get any more lavish. 1,460 eggs were served for breakfast every day for the entire cast and crew.
