9 Tips to Have a Successful Office Romance

Office romances are a very common phenomenon, with the increase in the amount of time spent by young singles in office nowadays and the average age of marriage going up. Unlike relationships outside the workplace, relationships in the office have to be guarded and taken double care of.

1. Be as discreet as possible

Keep in mind that office is not school or college where you can flaunt your relationship and become popular. Informal relationships are generally not encouraged in a formal environment so keep your romance a secret. Confide only in close coworkers and try to prevent it from becoming a big deal.

2. Don’t PDA in the office

You may be head over heels in love but try to control your feelings and not indulge in public displays of affection. Don’t make the people in your office uncomfortable and have them complain against how you both have been distracting them.

3. Don’t ask her out in office

Don’t make the mistake of bad timing by asking her out during work hours. It is not very appealing and would distract her during work.

4. Maintain your friendships

Just like people don’t like groupism they also don’t like being neglected by their friends just because your love life has started looking up again. If you both previously hung out with your coworkers during breaks, continue doing so. Show as less couple behavior as possible in the office environment.

5. Don’t let it affect your work

It is easy and quite natural to start daydreaming about your romance when your partner is working in the same vicinity. Don’t waste your and the company’s time and resources by doing so. Don’t neglect your work to go and chat with her and take long breaks.
