10 Photography Tips for Nature lovers
6. Try and take as many landscape photographs
Photographs, which establish the demographics of the space should be essentially clicked. The original natural landscape of most places makes for interesting photographs. These could be anything; sometimes even an interesting sky against the hills is quite a composition. One could also shoot the jungle from a vantage point to give a ‘bird’s eye view’ of the place.
7. Compose well
While composing photographs that capture nature, one should try keeping a major natural element as the subject. You could foreground it with a person, and the sky or local water bodies can be the background. Avoid keeping the subject of your interest in dead center, because that makes for a very boring composition.
8. Click people’s photographs
Not everyone is interested in clicking people, but when traveling in an environment that is different from yours, sometimes photographing people can make for some really interesting shots. These could range from faces in the form of portraits or a close up of things that they are wearing, or sometimes even the people juxtaposed with nature make for an informative and beautiful photograph. The ethnography of a place is established by its people. And some facial expressions are the best form of nature.
9. Work on close ups
A close up is when the lens goes extremely close to the subject and captures that on the camera. Some of the most interesting things about nature are in its little details. In order to capture those details, one has to click a lot of close up photographs. When doing this, remember that focusing on the right thing is really important. When taking extreme close ups, the depth of field becomes very shallow (you can focus on only one thing, and rest everything becomes blurred). Hence, one needs to be very precise with what they are focusing on.
10. Take very good care of your camera
When going for adventurous trips where you get close to nature, you need to handle your camera with utmost care. While going for a trek, make sure that the camera is safely kept in the camera bag and is guarded around with other things. Also, when going for water rafting or any other water sports, make sure the camera is kept in a plastic pouch or bag, and is only taken out when required. Most cameras today are very sensitive, and should be kept carefully in such trips.
Keeping all these tips in mind, one can be assured to click some of the most memorable photographs ever. Nature lovers who love maintaining journals can accompany their entries with photographs, which speak louder than words. Enjoy freely, and have fun with nature!
