We may have all grown up with our dose of horror stories and nightmares but there is nothing like giving visuals to your imagination. Here is a countdown of the top 10 scariest and creepiest horror flicks the world has ever seen.

1. The Conjuring

The Conjuring may be one of the most recent horror movies to join the league of extraordinary scary flicks but is one that’s a keeper. The movie has many old school scares but they are downright creepy that they want you to be absolutely sure before you go to bed or even open your closet. From the clap of the game to the bombshell of a jump; every scene is tastefully crafted and never lets you get off the edge of your seat.

2. The Exorcist

From the most recent; here’s the countdown jumping to one of the oldest known scary stories for the temptation is a little too high. The makers of The Exorcist take pride in showing the world what it is to be really scared. Since its release in 1973, the movie continues to haunt you every time you watch it and the face of the demon in the innocent little girl is all that you can think of all through your life. Unnatural body positions, the silence and the claustrophobic room are all tough to forget.

3. The Shining

Jack Nicholson has a killer smile but if you watch his smile with glee in this movie; you can be sure that you can never get that out of your head for all the wrong reasons. There are several images and scenes in the movie that haunt your mind for a long long time. Straight out of a Stephen King novel; The Shining is a movie that you’d beckon as one of the creepiest in that decade and the ones to come.

4. It

If there is something creepier or scarier than a ghost or possessed soul; it has to be a clown. This movie harvests on the fear of clowns a lot of people have and “It” does a fabulous job out of it. The antagonist of the movie lures children that are its target and watching it in action is something you’d rather do with company.

5. The Grudge

The Grudge is a remake of the Japanese movie Ju-on. This 2004 American horror film has some strong frightening images and scenes that you’ve always imagined should not happen to you. The movie is sans gore but has some scenes that can really rattle you.
