7. Don’t wait for the phone to ring

A job opportunity will not simply fall in your lap. You have to actively make several calls on every possible job opportunity that you can get your hands on.

8. Have a job hunt schedule

Plan as to how you are going to go about your job hunt. Have a proper schedule in place and make sure you get out of the house at least once every day.

9. Do not be scared of getting rejected

To increase your chances of getting a job, give as many interviews as possible. Do not only aim for places that are a safe option for you. Try your luck at places that may seem slightly out of your reach. You might be better than you think you are. Also, even if you get rejected, every failed interview will give you a new learning.

10. Save for a rainy day

Even when you are in a secured job, it is vital to have some savings in place in order to survive any unexpected layoff. This way you will not be in a sudden money crunch and it will also buy you more time as you hunt for your next job.

11. File for your tax return refund

This can be a good source of paying your bills if you do not have much savings. Based on what time of the year you are laid off, use your tax return as a source of money.

12. Be open to part-time jobs

After you are laid off, if you are not able to get your hands on full-time job options, do explore a few part-time ones. Do not be too rigid. You need to pay your bills and doing a few part-time jobs will give you some room to breathe. You could try adding to your skill set while you work part time
