We have heard quite a lot about the ill effects of alcohol. However tipplers have a reason to cheer as recent studies have proven that a limited amount of alcohol can actually be good for health. Red wine, widely consumed by the French, has been discovered to have quite a few advantages, some of which include the following.

1. Longevity and sleep

Quiet a few people have a habit of drinking a glass of red wine before bed and this is actually a good thing as the melatonin in it helps them doze off in a faster and more relaxed manner. So insomniacs take note. Also it is believed that the overall longevity is increased with regular but limited consumption of the drink.

2. Reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases

The delicious drink apparently aids in the production of (HDL) cholesterol which is good for the body. It makes the body more immune to cardiovascular diseases.

Well if you wish to live till a ripe age then red wine is surely for you. Quite a few studies have shown a link between the amount of red wine consumed and the longevity of life.
