6 Tips to Make a Great Impression on the First Day of Your Job
4. Take initiative by yourself
Just because you find your colleagues nice and smiling on your first day, don’t expect them to line up tasks for you and serve your job to you on a platter. You may instantly be able to make an impression on your coworkers by asking around for tasks that need to be done, showing inquisitiveness towards your job and having self starter approach.
5. Listen and learn
Seniors are known to love subordinates who show that they are willing to learn, mould themselves as required and take instructions well. You can break out of this image later when you become comfortable in your job but on your first day, showing this type of attitude may hold you in good stead.
6. Be updated
It may not be enough to only be updated with the latest in your company and the industry. You also need to know what is in the newspapers before you get to work. News items are instant conversation starters and being opinionated can form a good impression on others.
