6 Ways to Take Care of Your Aging Parents
4. Enlist a home nurse
If you are not able to handle the stress of taking care of them, or if you are not able to be there for them for most of the time, it would be a wise decision to keep a permanent nurse at their home. With her, you would be content in the knowledge that someone is there to take care of them and prevent untoward incidents from happening. It will keep you more at ease.
5. Become their parent
When aging starts, role reversal also occurs. Children have to take on the roles of parents by seeing to it that they are fed on time, medicines are duly taken, they are properly cleaned up, etc. Help out with the household work like cooking, cleaning, repairing, washing, etc.
6. Keep a checklist
As your parents keep aging, the list of things to be done for them also keeps getting longer. Don’t store all that information in your mind, instead jot down a checklist on paper or an electronic device so that you don’t forget important things like their medicines, hospital visits, check up results, etc.
