7 Foods That You Think Are Good But Are Actually Not
Ever wondered why the diets you have followed have not worked? You must have simply seen words like ‘low fat’, ‘no saturated fat’, ‘no MSG’, ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ on food packets, bought them and assumed they are healthy for you. But, there is more to these products than what meets the eye and we are making you aware by presenting this list.
1. Energy bars
Sports, energy and granola bars are quite deceptive. While they are obviously healthier than candy bars, they still contain a higher amount of sugar and sodium than you thought. Also, they do not have as much as fiber as they claim they do so. If you have been substituting them for meals, then it should be replaced with something healthier.
2. Breakfast cereals
Even those breakfast cereals that are supposedly low fat have high amounts of sugar and thus get stored as fat in your body. Replace them with fruits or a simple glass of skimmed milk.
3. Frozen dinners
Frozen packaged foods like macaroni and cheese, sausages, salamis, nuggets, etc., contain high amounts of salt, fat and artificial preservatives. They contribute to high cholesterol levels and could prove harmful in the long run if eaten more than twice a week.
4. Brown bread
Hailed as a healthier substitute for white bread, brown bread is in fact not as nutritive as you may have been under the perception of. Yes it is healthier than white flour bread, however, many companies bleach the white bread to a brown color and sell it as wheat sourced brown bread. They also contain gluten and when had in a large quantity cause bowel problems and bloating. Multi grain breads that have ‘whole grains’ written on the packet are the best alternative.
