7 Tips for Traveling with Pets
People having pets would know that they are no less than family, and when away from them, it’s a miserable time missing each other for both parties. If you are planning of making your next trip different and more enjoyable by taking your loved pet along, these tips could come in handy.
1. Get medical tests done beforehand
Whether your pet is going to travel by air, car or ship, you ought to get it medically tested a week prior to the trip. Make sure it doesn’t suffer from anxiety, is medically fit to travel and doesn’t have any fleas or infections.
2. Bathe them before leaving
Give them a bath a day before leaving. You don’t want them to stink, get infected, catch insects and get dirty, do you?
3. Make sure the pet eats a little
Before embarking on your journey, feed the pet a little, but not the amount of its usual meal. This will keep its stomach filled as well as lessen the chances of it getting travel sickness and barfing.
4. Keep them well hydrated
Make sure your pet gets water to drink from time to time. If traveling by road, get down every hour or so and quench its thirst. While traveling by ship or air, instruct the people in charge to keep giving it water at regular intervals. A dehydrated animal will never enjoy a trip and could faint.
