7 Tips to Increase Your Productivity
Productivity matters – be it at work or at home. It would be great to get more bang for the buck right? To be able to get the most out of our time spent in any activity. Read on for some ideas how to get to higher productivity levels in life.
1. Concentrate on the task at hand
This sounds obvious and is yet so often ignored. Its a no brainer that if you have to work on a presentation then it’s best that you focus solely on it and not which movie you would like to see next. Multitasking which has become all the more common thanks to our gadgets have made us into bumbling idiots with attention spans of dogs. In thinking of multiple things you not only increase the amount of time you would take to do something but also be prone to that many more errors. So clear your mind and take one thing at a time.
2. Become organized
Cultivate small habits like putting bills in proper files, saving contact numbers when you get them, putting your clothes in the correct place so on and so forth. These small things when done at the right time end up saving mountain loads of time later on. When you re rushing to office and spend crucial minutes hunting for your bag, you consequently hit traffic and reach late and end up not accomplishing what you could have otherwise. If you’ve never bothered before, don’t worry there is no age limit to start!
3. Work on cleanliness
The next order of business after becoming organized is cleanliness. Most often they go hand in hand. When you try to get your schedules and things organized you’ll be surprised to see how becoming organized necessitates keeping things clean. However, cleanliness in itself is a must have – a clean home and a clean desk all augur well for peace of mind.
4. Do not procrastinate
Procrastination is not cool. No matter how good it makes you feel to lie on your couch and watch mindless television while household chores pile up, you are not getting anywhere with procrastination. Most tasks are best done at a certain time and you are not doing yourself a favor by putting them off to a distant future. Clothes are best washed before daytime so they can dry better, bulk of your work is best done before your mid-day slump in energy levels hits you, so on and so forth. You must have leisure by all means, only don’t have it at the expense of work that could have been done well in that period. Additionally putting off work till the last minute can cause you to panic as deadlines approach and botch up things or you may not be able to complete the tasks at all. In short, when that couch summons you, beat the urge and get to work first.
