5. Equality

There are so many crimes and harassment happening around the world because of bias, prejudice and inequality. Teach your child to treat all humans as equals and with respect. Make sure your behavior reflects what you teach them. For example, you shouldn’t exhibit racist or sexist behavior, showing disrespect to poorer, gay, old, handicapped people, etc.

6. Independence

You don’t want your child to be forever reliable on you for everything, do you? Children need to be taught that their parents are not always going to be there with them, and hence, they should start becoming independent from a young age itself. Start with letting them make their own decisions and learning from their mistakes, not spoon feeding them and as they grow older, discounting yourself from lesser and lesser of their responsibilities.

7. Be different

Almost everyone today has a herd mentality and just go with the flow without having a mind of their own. If you feel strongly about making your kid stand out from among others, make him or her aware of themselves and their opinions. Make them feel that having an opinion and expressing it is a good thing. Not fitting into society, as long as no crimes are being committed, isn’t a thing to be ashamed of, but actually something to be proud of.

8. Love for nature

With the way the Earth’s natural habitat, flora and fauna are being destroyed; there is a huge need for the future generation to be our saviors. This can only happen when you inculcate a love for nature in them. Make them learn the importance of trees, water, natural resources, etc. You should teach them to respect every life, protect animals and prevent their abuse.
