The latest technology advancements have their advantages and disadvantages. Things like e-banking, internet facilities, credit cards, and other forms of money transactions are increasing day by day and so are the frauds associated with them. It is very important thus to keep a track of all your bank accounts and your money transaction details. Even the most minor of the bills needs to be checked before you pay for them. We give you some of the signs that you might be a victim of identity theft.

1. Your bills show things you have not purchased

This is one of the most common signs of all. There are times when you do not really give a thought to an item worth $5 to $10 when you pay for your bill. But it is important that you see every purchase detail properly in your bill. Inform the bank if you feel that there is even one small purchase that is not yours. The bank will help you to confirm.

2. You do not receive your statements on time

The bank usually sends you all your statements on time. But if you feel that since the past 2 months, you are not getting your timely card statements, inform the bank about it and see that you get your statements on time. There are chances that someone is picking them up and changing them before they reach you.

3. You suddenly receive gifts from companies

Whoever has hacked your identity or used your card will not be able to avail any gifts as companies generally send gifts directly to the card holder’s residence. If you happen to receive one such gift, inform the bank to stop your card and seek legal help. The police will help you track down if your identity seems to be stolen.

4. You do not receive your updated card

Every debit or credit card has a validity period. If you are a victim of identity theft, there are chances that you will not receive your updated card even after the validity is over. In such a case, it is best to inform the bank and block your account.
