7 Tips to be a Good Coworker
Working in an office environment is not only about doing your job and leaving. It’s also about maintaining professional relationships with your coworkers. In fact treating them right might just earn you brownie points at work.
1.Be soft spoken
For you to be considered as a good coworker, if not the best, you could start off with being soft spoken. Speaking loudly, harshly and brashly is not a sign of an understanding colleague. You can speak calmly, but firmly.
2.Be helpful
Everyone loves a helpful soul and helping out your coworkers is a Godly thing indeed. The comfort of knowing that there is someone at the workplace who would be willing to help out when most coworkers won’t, owing to professional rivalry, is a cherished one.
3.Be mannered
Good manners is a significant factor for putting you in the good books of your colleagues. When you use terms such as ‘thank you’, ‘sorry’ and ‘please’, you show courtesy and respect to the other person, values that are rare to find in today’s ruthlessly competitive world.
4.Keep their comfort in mind
Try to avoid exhibiting behavior that your colleagues may not be comfortable with, as much as possible. For example, eating food at your desk constantly, making unnecessary noises, talking on the phone, etc. For a cordial work atmosphere one needs to keep each other’s comfort in mind.
