8 Foods that Seem Healthy, But Could Harm You
5. Energy bars
Most of the energy and protein bars have almost the same calorific value as candy bars. Just that they have a little more protein than candies. Eat them only if you feel really zapped of energy but do not make it a habit.
6. Fruit juice or cocktail
Those packaged ‘real and fresh’ fruit juices are quite deceiving, what with their contents mainly consisting of thick sugary syrup. There is hardly any fiber in them, and the combination of so many artificial preservatives could pose a threat for your arteries as they could end up blocking them. It’s any day healthier to eat whole fruits or squeeze their juice out at home.
7. Salad dressings
Fat-free and light salad dressings are not really all that innocent as they seem to be. They are loaded with artificial flavors and sweeteners that give it the tasty zing. It’s better to not have salad with any dressing at all and sprinkle it with lime juice, oregano or chili flakes for flavor.
8. Pasta Salad, Bagels, Croutons and Pretzels
All of these foods are made of wheat or flour, and thus contain loads of carbohydrates that get stored as fat in the body, leading to obesity. Only if these products are 100% whole wheat or multigrain does it make sense to have them on a daily basis.
