5 Things You Should Never Do on a Board Meeting
Every formal event or a gathering has a code of conduct. Board meeting is one such crucial event where all the stakeholders in the company are present. Whether you are the CEO or one of the board members, you need to know what you can do at a board meeting and what is absolutely unacceptable. Here are 5 such things that you should never do at a board meeting.
1. Coming in casual attire
Many offices have casual days where you are allowed to wear jeans, shorts or t-shirts, but for board meetings it’s a strict no-no. You cannot go for an important gathering and sit among senior and high ranking members in a different attire. You should wear a suit, with a proper tie and a neat appearance. Don’t attract unnecessary attention.
2. Interrupting the other board members
It’s not polite to interrupt and especially during a board meeting when the CEO or a member is discussing facts and figures and having a no-question session, it is your job to merely listen and pay attention. Interruption will not be taken too well.
3. Not noting down the minutes of the meeting
There is always one member who assigns the secretary or has to take down the Minutes of the Meeting. If you happen to be one of the members then you need to remember your crucial role. If you forget and not take down things, then it can become a very difficult situation to be in.
