9 Things You Should Never Wear to Office
Different offices have different dress codes. It entirely depends on the kind of environment you work in. But be it any work culture, there is a certain code that needs to be followed, no matter how chilled out the workplace is. Here is a list of things that you should never wear to office to avoid getting into embarrassing conversations with your bosses or coworkers.
1. Ill-fitted pants
The most atrocious thing that you can wear to office is a pair of pants, which stick too tightly to your hips or around the crotch area. Believe it or not, your boxer or brief lines showing is something that is not appreciated anywhere, whether it is in the office, or any other place for that matter. Being in office means that you need to concentrate on your work and should not be hassled by the discomfort that your clothes cause you.
2. Experimental combinations
It is always great to try out new things on yourself, but experimenting with clothes for your office should be a strict no-no. Office is an environment where everyone competes with one another to get attention so that they look good and eventually go ahead in life. Amidst all this, the safest thing to do is to not get ticked off for your clothes. Ideally, you should be judged for your work and not for what you are wearing, but the upsetting part about the corporate work culture is that you are actually judged by the way you present yourself. Hence, it is important for you to look presentable.
3. See-through/sheer fabrics
For reasons mentioned earlier, sheer and see-through fabrics should be totally avoided. In fact, if you really want to wear them, you should try and team them up with interesting inners. These inners should be no-nonsense and classy. This will, in a way, give more character to your ensemble. Otherwise, see-through fabrics mostly come across as something utterly casual and flirtatious.
4. Too many bright colors
It is one thing to be in love with colors, and it is another thing to dress up like a rainbow. Especially in office, you do not want to be like a Christmas tree wearing an assortment of everything and anything you found in the morning in your wardrobe. You should go for both bright and dull colors and sometimes use contrasts as well, but you should try and stay away from teaming up more than two to three colors in your attire at one time.
5. Accessories that create too much sound
One should realize that you are going to an environment where people are working. Any kind of distraction can make the working process slow. One should pay attention to this and should stay away from clinking watches that create any kind of sound as it can be distracting for others in the office. Avoid too jazzy cuff links and belts too.
